Btw, if you're gonna go bare handed, you might wanna look into the quickstrike dagger... Same as bare handed, but more accurate :)

The Quickstrike Dagger is a must have for non-crit builds. :)

But -20% BC??? I suppose once I have enough AD it won't matter because the only time I'll ever get hit is when I don't get to start the fight but for some reason, having negative BC just bugs me :P

If you use the Superior hardened leather armor, leather cap, and woodcutter's boots, you get a BC of 29%, which cancels out the -29% BC of using the Quickstrike dagger and Fine gloves of swift attack, without costing you any AC. I then added the Crude wooden buckler for a whopping 1% BC. But yeah, as long as you hit first and can will with 5 strikes, you should be ok.

Heh, I was doing some math (please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this) and I'm starting to like the looks of the Blackwater set more and more.

Blackwater Misery condition gives +1AP, -50AC and -50CC

Blackwater Poisoned Dagger 3AP cost, 45AC, 1AD, Weak Poison (50%, Lvl 1, 5 Rounds)
Wooden Defender -8AC, -5CC, 14BC, 1DR
Blackwater leather cap 5HP, 21BC
Blackwater leather armor 25BC, 1DR
Leather gloves of attack 3HP, 13AC, -2BC
Woodcutter's boots 1HP, 3AC, 8BC
Jewel of Fallhaven -1AP cost
Ring of lesser Shadow (x2) 25AC, 6CC, 4-7AD, 5BC

Total stats from equipment and condition: 2/11AP, 9HP, 53AC, -43CC, 9-15AD, 76BC, 2DR, Weak Poison, Regen (x2)

Verdict: don't expect any criticals but with the right skills taken this could be a pretty slick build. Combat speed 2 and Cleave 1 would give 2/13AP which allows for 6 attacks, gain of 3AP from cleave for 4 total so 2 more attacks. Add in some base stats for someone who is pretty close to being strong enough to have earned all this equipment (I'll take my base stats for example) and you have 63HP, 153AC, 23-29AD, 76BC, and 2DR. Actually, I probably would've focused more on BC related skills if I was trying to get this build so I'd expect something more like 85BC and perhaps only 20-26AD. As I level up I would probably try to get some skill points into Barkskin and Dodge as well. The highest AC monster is the Iquan Master with 170 but few monsters have over 120 so I would make that my goal by the time I reach level 50ish. You'll still get hit just because of the whole diminishing returns thing but like this you probably shouldn't have to worry about not getting the first hit in because you'll probably survive long enough to allow your 6 hits per turn to do some serious damage.

Also note that you probably won't be able to get this set before level 20 and more likely 25-30 unless you're on one of those forum challenges in which case you wouldn't want to be going for this set anyways.

The Blackwater items are great for building up Block Chance, but I think you may have misunderstood the effect of Blackwater Misery.

The +1 AP means it adds 1 to the Attack Cost of your weapon. So for the Blackwater Poisoned dagger the attack cost becomes 4 AP, and goes back to 3 AP if you have the Jewel of Fallhaven, so it breaks even. The rest seems right though, and you've got enough equipment to make up for the -50 AC that Blackwater Misery causes (and fortunately the effect doesn't stack).

I think that was the point of the blackwater set, that the misery doesn't stack, so they're a good set if you use the full set... It's almost like having a forced matched set, all or nothing :)

It'd be cool if Oskar implements this in the other direction... Get enough pieces of a matched set and get an awesome buff from using the pieces together! :D :D :D

I did wonder about that :(.

Even so... that would be 3/12AP for 4 total attacks and then another attack after a cleave for 5 total attacks. Not quite as awesome as 8 but all it means is that you would want to keep on boosting AD to improve your chances of one-hitting a monster.

As much as I like that idea, the Blackwater set at least is powerful enough as is without a bonus (although I would really like to see more than just a dagger, helm, and chest... give me some blackwater gloves and boots pl0x  )

I didn't mean with the bw set, I meant with a new, not yet in game set... Just thinking, he added the ability to require certain items to be equipped for certain interactions (npc), maybe that code could be tweaked to change interactions between equipment when certain items are equipped? Lol, just a random thought, and this really isn't the correct thread to speculate on this particular idea, but this is where I was when it struck me... :D

Wow, this is slow going :(

At roughly 100 xp per kill and 30k xp needed for a level up that's 300 kills I need just to level up once. There are 14 monsters in the gargoyle caves and even assuming that 1 respawns while I'm killing the rest that's still a measly 15 kills I can get every 3 minutes. If I could manage to time things exactly then I should be able to gain a level in an hour. Instead, it's taken me the past week to gain 2 levels :(. Oh RoLs.... you make my life miserable
