tek,

You previously wrote;

Sorry :D
What I wrote about, which was appropriate considering the topic, was what "I" spent my points on and generally why. I am under the impression that was the purpose for Pyrizzle stating, "I am wondering what everyone is putting there skills into?". You went out of your way to announce that you had no intention to contribute, which in and of itself is fine, but somewhat redundant to essentially proclaim; "I write to declare I have nothing to write!".

For future reference, a strategy is most effective when it's not known to those you wish to use it upon, which apparently is all other players, by your own admission. As you previously stated; "IMO, the skills introduce the first real strategy", you offered all but how you intended what skill(s) to build upon. The fact that you chose to volunteer your "plans" after I made my post should be the true source of your frustration. Otherwise, you may have be able to continue with your implied advantage that you alone felt privy to.

I truly feel you underestimate the intelligence of the forum community. :(

@Tailings: I think the Quick Learner skill becomes more useful as your level gets higher, even though it obviously has benefits from early on, but it doesn't take too much to level up in the beginning as you go through quests, or grind for meat/gold.

As far as early on skill points, Increased Fortitude provides the most from early use since it isn't retroactive.

I used my most recent skill point on Quick Learner, and I didn't do the math but it definitely felt like it took less time to level up after that, so I don't know if it makes up for the loss of a skill point, but the shorter time it takes to level up is worth it to me. I also plan to use my next 2 for Quick Learner.

After that, since I'll hit level 80, I'll use that skill point for Increased Fortitude (so the increased HP will matche with the level: 1 HP at 81, 10 at 90, 15 at 95, etc). Then planning to use 2 more for Quick Learner for a total of 25% extra XP per kill. After that, I'm not sure.

Basically, as you get higher in levels, since you're probably raising your AC, AD (and maybe BC) anyway, the skills that affect those aren't as big a deal, so "losing" a skill point on Quick Learner isn't really a loss. I also used 10 for magic finder.

The Increased Fortitude is IMO the best skill to use if you are starting from LVL 1 since if you put your first one into Increased Fortitude at lvl 5 (one level after you get your first skill point)

From there i have slowly worked my way up to lvl 29 and already have a base HP of 66. From now on i won't need to put any more points into HP since it is going up on its own. I have been going for Increased Fortitude(lvl 2), Regeneration(lvl 2) & Combat Speed(lvl 1 of 2) so far. I want to get to Regeneration Level 3 before moving onto other skills.

That brings up my next question.... What do i go for next? They all have their dis/advantages. :?:

2nd Combat Speed @ lv. 30 - hands down
(1st was @ lv. 15)

gonna snag More Criticals (1) at 24 & saving my lv. 28 Skill Point until 30

lv. 32 Better Criticals (1)

(subject to change) 8-)

i was torn, ALMOST picked Increased Fortitude @ lv. 5...
very sound strategy Sir.

[and hunting for my RoLS makes it REALLY hard not to pick Magic Finder a 3rd time]
but, im sticking to the plan!

best of luck all!

Corpse Eater Skill

IMO, the Corpse Eater skill should not add HP after defeating a NPC during a multi NPC battle as this doesn't make logical sense. How does the hero have time to eat a corpse when he has more fighting to finish? I think that this skill should not be applied until after the battle is won to keep it simple. To complicate things, you could allow the hero to eat during battle but it costs AP just like eating meat or using potions does.

What do you think? Please stay on topic.

That does make sense. Who can really fight and chock down a meal at the same time? Not I.

I could be wrong here, but my understanding is there is no actual consuming of the corpse, but merely an absorption of a portion of its HP's. Who would consider physically eating a corpse a skill?

In the case of some multiple enemy combat scenarios, the battle could be more easily lost than won, by not having the ability to absorb HP's from a defeated enemy immediately after the initial kill. If you had to wait for the entire round of combat against multiple enemies to absorb individual HP's, you may not be alive to acquire their total.

If you are depending on a 1, 2, 3...HP increase from the corpse eater skill to stay alive in a battle, then chances are that you are dead before you have time to down a potion or eat some item to restore HP.
Having to wait iuntil3 the battletime is over is no different then having to waituntilthe the NPC's round is over before consuming a healing agent.
