You mean baseball?
I'm going out to dinner, when I come home I will write-up a nice explanation of what baseball is and what it means to Americans.
Ok for football : its just like soccer with the acception of carry the ball versus kicking the ball on the ground. All point set up is.different a touch down is 6 points but you can get 1 point for making a feild goal after a touch down. Or you get 2 points for making another touch down known as the 2 point conversion. Then u have your standard feild goal which is 3 points. And if you tackle the quarterback in his endzone I think you get 2 points for that as well. Offence is trying to get the ball down feild for a td (touch down) defence is.trying to stop that.
Because of all the broken bones head injuries ect ect. Remember these are big Guys were talking about on the defense side while the offensive side wants lighter fast moving guys to get down feild
American Football is amazing and much more show, than most of us know... Even us here in the heart of europe. Soccer is more dangerous as U, over the big lake Atlantic, know. U have the show at the bowl.. i dont tell my personal giants now...

Baseball is synonymous with America's infancy where in the time in which it was first introduced is a time where American romanticism was at its peak. The 1870's were a time of vision, growth, entrepreneurships, industrial development, expansion...etc. Yet, it was a simpler time. Baseball games quickly grew to an event to enjoy and "past the time". It has always there during troubling times both within the country and around the world and has been used as a binding and healing tool. See WWI, WWII, 9/11 to name a few.
How about how Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and in turn, helped the enlightenment on Americans when it came to integration and the a abolishment of workplace and social segregation?
It is something that can bring a father and his son together in a bonding experience that will last a lifetime. I've argued/debated for years with my father and grandfather about the players they grew up watching versus the ones I watched even though I never saw most of those players but I've studied their careers and their stats.
I can still recite the starting lineups of the 1988, '89, and '90 Oakland Athletics teams that I loved as a child. I remember that moment in October of '88 that broke my heart and would not recover from until 10 years later.
Because of our father's love for it, baseball is the one game that we all have played as a child and is the one game we have or going to be passing down to our kids.
Here in Boston, the love of Baseball is higher than just about everywhere else in the country and I credit this to the romanticism surrounding the pain and suffering that we endured for 86 years. I for one know exactly where I was 2004 when the Red Sox won the first time in 86 years. I know people that left notes on loved ones graves the day after we one informing them as such.
In summary, baseball is a game that is romantically ingrained into our DNAs and as such, we are propelled to pass it onto our offspring.
I hope that this helps you Melty. If I only confused, then I'm sorry.
