Yes. I was too lazy to even resize them. They are literally a 1:1 copy from one image to the other

The title fits really well with the book. The logo doesn't though. It looks too new, and the colors are wrong.
I am not an artist, so I'm not sure how much more I can contribute to this. I think we have a reasonable consensus on what we want, it's now more a question of executing that, and I'm not qualified to do it.
Anyway, I'm headed to Mexico later today (goodbye snow, hello sun
), so for the next week I'll only be online intermittently.

Well, here's a first draft:

I added shading around it so it would look realistic on the book cover too. The book cover would not be as weathered right at the logo's edge if the logo were made of other materials and attached to the cover. So that's the angle I'm going with.
Here's how it would look on Jax's design (after adjusting the text to bring it down a bit):

That looks pretty good for a draft the colors look much more realistic. The shading also gives it a nice 3d pop with or without the book. It does seem a little dark at the bottom but could just be me.

All I did was darken the original image and adjust the contrast. The darkness is intended to give that 'its been sitting in this ancient library for centuries' look. I also trimmed the edges of jax's design so the gilding would look attached to the book rather than painted on.
