Nyktos & Jax: Exactly!!!! Plus the boat doesn't have to take you all the way to a town, just the part of the river closest. To ensure you can't take it there the first time you go, you need to complete a quest in that town to add that specific town to the boat's list of destinations. This way, if you find yourself running low on gold, you can walk there, but if not, and you need to get back to a town near the river in a hurry, take the boat.

A thought, I suppose. I never collect a big pile of gold, myself.

How can you be broke at level 60? I have 230,000gp. What could I possibly spend that much gold on?

well, not broke...
since leaving Lodar's for the last time,
i do have a little more gold than i thought.
stockpiling Potions of Blind Rage, Haste Potions & Tears of the Shadow was expensive.
not necessary, but i enjoy the collection.
that and certain areas can yield high XP and low gold,
i wasn't concerned about missing out on the money...
so i lingered there longer than normal leveling without earning much.

I used the Sword of Shadow's Rage for a while. It was fun, but I didn't like the huge BC penalty. It's an all or nothing deal: you either win, or the monster gets a chance, and you are in big trouble! Potions of Blind Rage are the same way, but maybe in certain cases the trade-off is worth it. Potions of Haste and Tears of the Shadow, absolutely! Lodar never has many of them though, so it's difficult to acquire a large stash. Maybe I should go outside and just amble around in the yard for long enough that he makes some more. Getting to Lodar and back is too painful to do it very often, even at level 64!

since it was a raipier, i was Dual Wielding it with the RoL.
[the sword of shadow rage]
and i enjoyed it!
(the BC drop was painful)
although, i'm pretty aggressive with my builds & have low BC...
my current hero is probably the most conservative i've made.
i should update my signature soon
as for Lodar, i indeed camped out.
i put my progress on pause & just kept popping into his store clearing him out, throughout the day.
what's the timer on shops respawning (without sleeping in a bed?)

I think it's 6 minutes. Don't know that for sure though.

i am thinking there is a thread here somewhere, just haven't searched yet...
six mins sounds right, but for some reason ten mins keeps popping into my head?
might be totally random - green maze haze & such

Lodar does have some nice potions. It is easy to spend all your gold there too. I usually only buy all his Tears of the Shadow once each time I visit, but I stock up on his bonemeal potions. My quickslots consist of Cooked Meat, Bonemeal (from Fallhaven) and Lodar's Bonemeal. 100 of each usually does me just fine. I'm just building up skills at the moment... I really need Cleave. Its when the mobs gather around me like schoolboys at a supermodel photo shoot that usually result in death for me. One on one, even two on one, are not a problem at all. With my build I've been putting most of my points in BC, with every third level up in AD. It looks like I'm doing AC only once every 45 levels or so... But in truth I've been bringing my BC up to equal my AC, once they were both at 75, I raised AC for the first time (I think... Did I raise it before? I forget), and now I'm just keeping the two as equal as they could be. Yet, the only beasties that're giving me a challenge are the Hirathil ghosts. Hence my need for Cleave.
