570 small stone. Finally got my first one. I actually just stared at the screen in disbelief that it finally happened!

3rdboss,
570 is a relatively low amount compared to others. I got my first at 640, and after an additional 2100, I'm still looking for my second.
congratulations on your first.

570, 640+2100!
I've got 4354 small rocks and still no rings! I don't think you realize how lucky you are. If, no, when I get one you may hear my whoop of joy and not have to read about it in a posting. Some of you players are so impatient--wait, didn't ctnbeh13 just say that, too?
ctnbeh13, I was surprised to see that you did not know about the highscore listing since you are the leader, far, far ahead of every other player. Of course, you will not be able to stay at twice everybody else's level since the experience points for you to go up to level 101 will take someone else from level 50 to level 56 or 57 or maybe even 58, but nobody will ever catch up. That you have not gotten your 4th ring in going from 12xxx rocks to 21yyy rocks is both encouraging and discouraging to me. Surely I will get a ring before reaching 9000 rocks!

3rdboss,
Nice to hear of your latest acquisition. Congratulations. The first one for me was the best, because after you finally get one, you know it's real and that you can get another. It's just a matter of when. Best thing I can think of for you to do in your quest to get the 2nd, DON'T think about getting a 2nd ring. Shift your focus to the experience points you're racking up to level up for what waits in the next release.

lady black,
Periods of impatience are seemingly commonplace. I tend to view them as being overly focused in meeting an expectation that offers no warning of its approach.
You've heard the expression, "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans."? Well, in a sort of variance of what I shared with 3rdboss, "Rings of Lesser Shadow are what happens while you're busy collecting experience points." That's the way I try to view it, but I too feel the disappointment of a seemingly overdue ring at times.
Something I'd like yourself and others to take in consideration concerning this whole High Score List issue is that I've been playing Andor's Trail for a considerable time before it was even put up, which was May 11th, if I remember correctly. I joined the forum for the privilege to ask and hopefully answer questions regarding the game, and in no way do I view us as fellow players to be in competition with one another.
As far as you picking up your first RoLS, in my opinion you should be in range to pick one up at any moment. I'd be surprised if you didn't have one by 3,500 to 3,700 small rocks (worse case scenario).

Yeah, except I've already got 4354 small rocks. I haven't updated my signature in a while, and now need to change my format for Samuel's high scores board. When someone first suggested that we needed a "leader's board" I replied that we just kept an eye on the stats in our signatures. But when the board went up, it was easier to see how other players were doing. I am not really in a competition with them, but I like to see how the game is going for them. I just do get jealous when people get rings of lesser shadow with almost no trainer-master kills while I still have not gotten one with about 17,000 kills. I am filled with adrmiration that you have managed to reach level 100, with over 10 million XP. I felt 2 million was something of a milestone.

lady black,
I am truly sorry to hear of your higher than expected small rock count. I believe I have a little more appreciation for your feelings on the matter now. I know that there are variables that weigh in on as to when you get a ring rather than a rock, but can't clearly identify them. Generally speaking, most have received their rings around the same rock totals as other players, but as you know too well there are exceptions. However, you might also find that your 2nd ring comes 400 rocks after the first. I know that you will get one if you don't let yourself become discouraged enough to quit. Besides, your time is not wasted as you are continuing to level up your character.
You mentioned earlier about changing you stat format to work with Samuel's High Score List. I ask that you reconsider before making changes. I haven't ever said to another player, "Hey, you should make your stats look just like mine!", but at least what I've tried to do is convey relevant information about my character that's simple to read and understand, even for a new player. The game doesn't have 2 letter abbreviations for stats or items. Now I realize a new player isn't going to place on a High Score List for some time, but that also shouldn't mean that he or she should have to learn abbreviations or refer to a key to understand who has what, etc.
I guess I feel that a lot of the personal requests in the forum are just that, personal. For me this is somewhat disappointing since it seems to reflect a lack of awareness that this is a game still under development and that new players will continue to be arriving. For example someone entering the Gargoyle cave for the 1st time as a new player will be fortunate to even survive let alone feel the need to increase the respawn rate. I am fairly certain that there are others besides myself that would appreciate players to remember this game is a work in progress and to be more mindful of the relationship of where they are currently in the game to that of a new player at that same point in the game. Is the request being made to the benefit of both groups?
On a lighter note; Samuel's List does offer the benefit of guiding a new player to someone on the list they can refer to for assistance, or get a general idea as to goals.
Wow! I'm surprised that all fit.

Although I understand your point of view, everyone are different and dont neccesarily feel the same attachment and dedication to the game as you do.
I'd have to disagree with regards to the gargoyle cave - for me at least, as a new player of a game, having places that are difficult or impossible to overcome at my characters current stage only makes it more exciting. You should also consider that the gargoyle cave is the "end game" of the latest release. If the end game of each version is exciting or challenging enough, I'd imagine that a lot more people would keep hanging on and not uninstall the application, but rather get involved.
