For level 35+, I have found that it's hard to argue against the Morkin area as far as pure XP vs. death risk goes. They all do maximum 3 damage per strike, so if you just up your damage resistance to 3, then you will never get hurt by them. Yet, they provide 240 to 310 XP per kill, and give regular health potions and "liquid courage" as drops.
