I swear, even if I have to reload a backupbfrom eons ago and redo a huge part of the grinding, I will not only survive them... but smash them into the wall

I can only maintain that state for 4-5 turns. Hope it will be enough.

That's bad,do the nightmare in guynmart castle is the Condition for new achievement??
I found it in at directory that there's new achievement that unlocked after survive a nightmare

Is it possible to get this achievement in permadeath ? Because I remember,

in the past the only way to escape from the situation where you are trapped was to get killed by the nightmares...

(do not feel obliged to respond if you don't want to, I can always make a test character and cheat to get him to the adequate levels to test it)

If I recall it right it is possible. But you have to wait with the quest until you are really strong enough, and do it right. Do practice with a non permadrath game.

Nut's right, it is possible to beat them (you have to fight 2 at the same time). But you will either need extremely higher levels, a solid damage build/plan probably including temp effect potions, and/or some kind of damage over time effect like bleeding or poison. They aren't super scary offensively so you can afford to sacrifice defense for added offense during this fight (Shoutout to minor berserker rage!)

To the main question, I think the nightmare is triggered when you sleep and you

don't have the thing you need to continue the quest by annoying the torturer.

However, that just means it's not in your inventory. You might have

dropped it somewhere in the room where you can retrieve it after fighting the nightmare

I know how to make those guys appear on dungeon, but how do i trigger the achievement?

Do i have to kill those guy in some certain amount the be the key to escape the room?
some says we have to annoyed the torturer or someone to trigger the achievement notification

Somebody in jail told me how to get this achievement by meeting the person he told me to.

you should have a good rest in cushion or bed after fighting those nightmare in dungeon
