That is an exceptionally good way to balance it. It means that anyone not interested in taking the risk will stick with single creep battles and invest in Evasion. Also makes the cavern below Lodar's place have a higher risk+benefit (and I'm all for that).

I agree, very nice balance. I'd take the risk+reward any day - just look at my char and you can see that :lol:

And actually, I had another idea for this. Maybe make it a skill you can invest in. Maximum of 7 ranks. Every level will give you 5% more experience per enemy engaged and increase the penalty given by death by the same amount. Note that this bypasses Failure Mastery.
