Skill Suggestion:

Name: Iron Stomach
Effect: lowers the chance that you will get food poisoning and duration of food poisoning by XX%

XX = Determined by skill level. (see list below)

Level 1: Lowers chance of Food Poisoning by 10%
Lowers Effect of Food Poisoning by 1 round

Level 2: Lowers chance of Food Poisoning by 20%
Lowers Effect of Food Poisoning by 2 rounds
Raises drop rate for meats by 10%

Level 3: Lowers chance of Food Poisoning by 30%
Lowers Effect of Food Poisoning by 3 rounds
Raises drop rate for meats by 15%

(All #s are just examples and can be changed as needed)

How about this?

Given the relative weakness of this skill and several others (TH, etc that populate the thread about combining skills), should there be half-point skills? Or alternatively, should skill points come a few at a time, with strong skills taking all of them, weak ones taking less (allowing you to take more than one at a time), and perhaps even some very powerful ones that you have to save up for?

Another option: you get one skill point per level, but the ”typical” skill takes four points. Really good ones take five or six, wimpy ones one or two....

well the numbers are not set in stone, it could be ramped up.

As far as the half point skill idea... I really think you have a good idea here.

The weakness of the skill is not in the numbers. Its a 'too specific mechanic'. From 100 conditions and ways to die, you would invest skill points to reduce a chance of having a stomachache?

Make a skill that compliments the overall character savagness, so the skill point is worth it. Eats raw meat, breaks rocks, bashes!

If you really want it to be specific, Tomcats idea is the best. Give it a cheaper cost compared to the average skill cost.

I like Sarumars suggestion and second the motion of Xero.

Also, I agree it would be rational to let certain skills cost more and others less skillpoints, else we are endlessly discussing the balance and OP or UP of skills.

I agree with the above post of Thystonius on all points.

I would like 2 points per level and the cost of the typical skill (level) raised to 8. I like getting skill points and only once per 4 levels feels too long, spaced too far apart. (Or is this a way to covertly train the ability to delay gratification?) I also like the choosing of skills and advancing in skill levels as part of the game; I would like more opportunities to do so, than currently available. I think the strategical spending and saving of skill point on minor and major skills can add to the gameplay. Maybe there could be general skill options for an attack, defence or critical build added for people who don't like this aspect of the game to be more complicated.

How about a boost to the amount of turns of Sustenance and maybe on the last skill level it increased the effect of Sustenance to Heal 2 Hp per round instead of 1?

Level 3: Lowers chance of Food Poisoning by 30%
Lowers Effect of Food Poisoning by 3 rounds
Raises drop rate for meats by 15%
Raises the Duration of Sustenance by X rounds
Raises the effect of Sustenance by 1Hp. (Heals 2 per round instead of 1)

===================
just throwing this out there
one skill that shouldn't be made a 1/2 point skill: Quick Learner
IMHO that would become OP very quickly unless some sort of Level Req was added.

hmm.. better now... but imo still weak, how about if this skill also raised the duration of every sustenance bonus for 1 round per level of the skill and for level three raised the healing amound of anykind sustenance bonus by one ?

LOL this skill is starting to generate a looooong list of effects. ;)

Sarumar: your suggestion would look like this @ Level 3

Level 3: Lowers chance of Food Poisoning by 30%
Lowers Effect of Food Poisoning by 3 rounds
Raises drop rate for meats by 15%
Raises the Duration of Sustenance by 3 rounds
Raises the effect of Sustenance by 3Hp. (Heals 4 per round instead of 1) .

IMO adding one to the effect per skill point would become OP very quickly. At level 3 Sustenance would heal for 4HP per round and considering that Sustenance can add up quickly (Like the cooked chicken leg that heals Sub x4 for 6 rounds)
