I like the way you think! These are some fun suggestions!

I was just thinking about if it would be possible to add snow falling to a map tile where you viability could be partially blocked or even fully blocked in some areas where the snow fall is very heaven (Maybe getting something like the goggles you suggested would raise your viability in these areas, thus opening a new area to go to).
