My suggestion will probably not be well liked among this group but here it goes anyways.
IMHO Bark Skin is too overpowered at this time, once you get all 5 skill points, the gear, and Pro skills; you are able to block so much damage that a large portion of the NPCs in the game are eventually completely unable to damage you at all.
My suggestion:
Example: Lets say for this our player had DR 10
NPC Swings and hits for 5: You take 0 (DR lowers damage to 0, you have 5 DR left)
NPC Swings and hits for 10: You take 5 (Dr lowers damage by 5, you take the rest, and have 0 left)
NPC Swings and hits for 5: You take 5 (you have no DR at this time, it refreshes at the beginning of the next round)
In V7 (current version) the attacks would have been prevented leaving the player still at full health. With the new suggestion the player would have taken a total of 10 damage.
If this was implemented we could even raise the cap on the Bark Skin Skill w/o having to worry about players becoming overpowered.

Bark skin and DR are only overpowered because of the high bc. There should be a different prerequiste, like AD and HP for bark skin. Why does someone who's quick with a shield and quick on his feet become able to tank hits anyway? Shouldn't it be someone who's ten feet tall and as strong as a horse who can do that?

So basically, you are suggesting DR being a 'potion' that gets drained per round. Absolutely excellent idea! I think this should work like AP, there might even be a DR-regen option per kill like Cleave!

I totally agree that BC is used for too many different defensive tactics.
It is the basis for: dodging (avoiding getting hit), parrying (blocking a physical attack), shield block (shields are just items that boost stats atm, a more active use of shields would be interesting) and even evasion (blocking or avoiding spells and status affects).
The least that should be done, is that with high BC, you aren't so totally invulnerable to status affects.

I agree with you 100%. I never thought it made much sense that BC was a prerequisite for Bark Skin because if your BC is high enough then you don't need Bark Skin.
