I would like to see a way to orginize items in our backpacks by categories.
Like:
Weapons (swords, axes, daggers, etc)
Helmets
Shields
Rings
boots
gloves
Mis Items (Rubies, small rocks, polished gems, etc)
Quest items (Calomyran Secrets, etc)
Not really sure if having a bunch of bags is the right approach, I feel that the ability to sort things into categories would be good enough.

Hasn't oskar already been working on this functionality? I.e. the idea of sorting items by category.

Yes, i believe that he has been. I was simply stating that this would be better than having a bunch of separate bags to go thru.

We really need a way to sort by category.

yeah, everything in the game has been given a new marker - to put it into a certain category.
this was done for a few reasons...
for one, we might end up organizing our gear by said category...
and weapons must be divided properly if there are going to be specializations...
also ~ alchemy-type crafting would need a group to pull from [e.g. ingredients]
the backpack idea seems to have turned into a place we can stash stuff that we wanna keep,
but we dont want it in our inventory - taking up valuable screen space.

This is good to hear Nyktos. I like the way this game is developing.

Yes, +1. I love categorizing (and sorting by category) but would love it even better if we could have some (belt) pouches and backpack. Or travel sack. The list I have to scroll through is huge, and if I find new stuff to keep it is a lot of work to keep things tidy.
Also, carrying 3000 rocks is imho silly, something like strength (limiting the total weight of your inventory) and weight for items would add a little of realism.

Your point is valid, but, I always thought os the small rocks as pebbles (smaller than a marble), so carrying 3,000 of them wouldn't be too far fetched.

I don't like the idea of worrying about weight. I've played other games that have a weight restriction, and frankly, I just find it annoying. At least in this point of development, I'd rather see efforts going other places...more quests, combat enhancement, etc.

Also, if there were a weight restriction, we couldn't carry around thousands of BMPs anymore. Also for those of us who like to switch gear based on the current enemies would have to think twice before taking all the gear they think they'll need.
