Mino wrote:I understand the forum is a good place to ask for help, but in this case, I feel like one of the great things about this game is the open map. You can go anywhere that exists on the map, and only a few of those places require you to start a quest to gain access. Some games only let you go where the current quest(s) need you to.

So anyone who truly explored every open space on the map would have found Flagstone Prison, or the snake caves, or the gargoyle caves, etc. I didn't know that any of those places existed, I just wandered around while playing and tried every area. But I also wish I had been to the forum to read about how good the Venomous Dagger was (a couple updates ago anyway) before foolishly selling it off.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.
+1. Well said, Mino.

I stumbled across many areas in my wanderings without having a clue as to what they were or what their significance was. In fact, my opening post on this forum was after I had already been everywhere I could reach. I didn't even know what the snake cave was even though I had been there before. Nor did I know that
snakes dropped more meat than anything else
or that
meat was valuable not just for it's HP gain but for selling for gold as well
. This is why, when someone asks a direct question, I give them a direct answer.

There are (roughly) two types of players - serious & casual

if you told me that you were a "serious" RPG player...
I would expect you to be able to complete most (rpgs) without help
I'd assume game guides & web sites were for 'fine tuning' or to see what you missed.

On the other hand...

If you told me that you were a "casual" RPG player...
I would assume you enjoy the genre - but I'd be expecting more questions.
The more serious you are the more time you take (enjoying) exploring. Missing less.

There really should be a no non-sense section,
With clear & detailed explanations of how to progress the story and quests.
BUT - the integrity of a spoiler free forum should be maintained.

The regulars here, in my opinion, are mostly serious players.
The visitors, are most likely, just popping by for some quick help.
This forum can cater to both!

(I want to work on posting some of the F.A.Q. tomorrow... *fingers crossed*)

just my opinion... :D
