Judging from my last report on this bug (viewtopic.php?t=7350&start=30) i presume you're not interested in fixing this, so maybe just take it as a fun fact:
v0.8.8 still shows the same behaviour, hanging around at the tavern and vanishing the moment i approach.

The vanishing is already a bugfix. Before that you could even talk to them again which brought up further problems.
I had fixed something in the dialogue but obviously didn't find every reason for the issue,. To be sure I let them vanish should they still appear.
As you see that was a wise decision...
It is a rather complex part of the dialogue so it's not easy to find the bug. And because it's not critical, it has low priority.
