Disappearing meat

I was chasing down giant insect wings for Hadracor armed with plenty of Meat & Bonemeal in my quick slots.

After a foray into the fields, if I needed time to heal with some meat I'd retire to the path to the South of the road, (and a couple of other sheltered spots).

Initially I set my self up with a nice fresh piece of puppy or a snake burger and put the phone down for a couple of minutes to let the chow do it's work. (Sometimes it was long enough for the phone screen to enter sleep mode).

On several occasions, I'd pick the phone up again to find that the meat had gone (and the quick slots had also jumped back into their box). So I'd charge up with a fresh piece of meat and wait again.

I noticed that I was using far too much meat without getting all of the benefit, so I tried a fresh piece of meat when I knew for certain that it would only need a couple of rounds to restore all of my hit points.

The meat still disappeared even when there should have been several rounds still available.

I don't know if this is bug or not - but it's something I'll watch out for more carefully in the future.

are you eating raw meat & getting food poisoning?
that's the only thing i can think of...

FYI, meat takes 72s to be absorbed. Food poisoning with meat will set you back 3hp every 6s for 60s, so a -6hp at the end of meat digestion.

It is raw meat, I do get poisoned occasionally (skull icon & -3 appears), but the antidote (also in a quick slot) fixes that and the meat carries on doing it's job.

It also happened to my 2nd character yesterday evening. They already had their full complement of hit points, (and the meat related +2 showing at bottom right when I set the phone down), when I returned to the game the meat had gone.

I think it's something to do with the screen going into sleep mode. It doesn't happen if I just wait and watch the meat do it's work.

I'd already done that - and no, the sustenance condition is not showing as active.

Update:

Opened a saved game with a character on full hit points and meat active and no monsters nearby - overview read "Sustenance X 2(3 rounds).

Got my specs out and put them on and also got my stylus out of my pocket and by then the +2 icon had gone from the game screen and the Sustenance had disappeared from the overview screen.

Three rounds is 18 seconds and that time would have passed, but surely the meat shouldn't be used in that time if it's not needed.

I'm not fretting about it, meat is in plentiful supply, but it seems like there is something wrong there somewhere.
