Am I the ONLY one who feels its wrong to copyright something you copied from a historical source? Some of the new fonts I downloaded have .txt files attached that state that if you want to use it for anything other than personal use, you have to send them $20 USD! Meanwhile they clearly state they merely made a .ttf out of 14th century manuscripts! SERIOUSLY????????? You want to get paid for the use of something you COPIED??????ARRGGHHH!
Looking great. Maybe some bevel on the font, and some shading around the logo, to make it look like metal slotted (maybe there's a better word) in the leather.
How would a screen like Nyktos' one look or work in landscape mode? Any idea?
Would the background be stretched and shield icon and text be pasted upon it?
FYI, done with two vertical darken strokes, hardness 50, density 30 (one centered on the very left edge, the other in from that), and one lighten stroke between them, hardness 50, density 15. That's Corel terminology, and I don't know what software you are using, but it should give you some idea. This was my first attempt so it can probably be done better anyway

I understand your frustration, but I think that making a font is more than "merely" anything. At least they give it away for personal use, which is more than can be said for a lot of font creators.

Good question that! Particularly if we add my suggested spine on the left.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
If you're going to add a spine, you need to recenter the text. It would be centered between the right edge of the spine and the right side of the book cover. Plus, the landscape view would have to be a separate image if you want to go with the book idea. Because the spine would go on top, the logo would then go to the left of the text.
