Helmet of the ancient warlords

You stumble across a hidden cave inhabited by an old hermit.Inside the cave you see a vast collection of ancient books and strange items.The hermit introduces himself to you whereas he tells you hes the last of an ancient order of philosophers who studied all forms of ancient knowledge ranging from weapons to mythical potions, etx.He begins to tell you the story of thousands of years ago the land was at war with each other, different tribes of humans fighting against ancient creatures who scoured the land devastating everything in there path.Eventually the tribes formed under the the leadership of 3 warlords to rid these creatures of there lands.The 3 warlords met in secret with an old man believed to be knowledgeable in many ancient secrets.He give each warlord an mysterious helmit that he said would help them to defeat theses creatures.If worn during battle it would aid the wearer to outsmart there enemy increasing there attack and block chance amongst certain things.It was believed once a certain chant spoken from an acient book of wisdom the helmits gained there power.The warlords eventually defeated these ceatures after many battles and peace eventually fell upon the land.According to legend the 3 helmits and the book of wisdom many years later were stolen from a village by the ancestors of these creatures and destroyed but it is believed that 1 helmit remains along with the book hidden in a secret place somewhere in an ancient volcano.These ceatures still live within the volcano guarding these items.
If you can obtain the helmit and the book the hermit may be able to read the ancient words from the book and bestow the power on the helmit for you, if he can he will give you the helmit in exchange for the book.

Very interesting! And helmets are in dire need of interesting additions... I'll let better qualified speak to the balance, but it's a very powerful item, to be sure. Reaching the volcano should be a very high level task...

Stats could be played with a bit, just general storyline like you said there's nothing really out there regards a decent helmit or quest to go with it, just ideas !

It would still be odd for a blessing to reduce a bonus, even if it gives others....

Maybe typo or he overlooked it
I no that happened to me when I wrote the scream pain and fire quest... I even physically wrote it all down and almost overlooked the drop items for a monster lol
