Potion Mastery

Was just sitting here thinking... once you hit a certain point... Potions become somewhat weak...

What about a skill (yay skill point choices haha) that gives you a percentage bonus to potions?

Potion Mastery (Max 4)
25% Bonus to potion effectiveness per skill level

Really, that simple... percentages are up for discussion, but whatcha think :?:

Do you mean potions like minor potion of speed or potion of blind rage? I suppose a skill to increase the number of rounds it lasts would be interesting.

But other potions are already 100% effective: weak poison antidote, ointment of bleeding wounds

I think he's talking more about health potions. 40 hp healed per BMP is kind of weak when you have close to or over 200 hp.

I think it's a pretty good idea, even though thanks to my Rol I don't use health potions.

It might be simpler to have more powerful potions available, so that you don't have to spend skill points. Maybe Lodar could even have a more potent version of bonemeal up his sleeve - requiring an additional hard to get ingredient, say, but worth 100 HP instead of 40.

Likewise, there could be better speed potions, better strength potions, better poison cures, etc. You just have to find where to get them....and have the extra gold.

I'm sure he'll just end up adding say 60/80 hp potions, but even then.. you have a 60 hp potion with a 25% bonus... suddenly you have a 75hp potion ;)

+1 to adding stronger potions.

I like the skillpoint idea, but I think potion mastery is something that can be learned by completing some quests at different intervals. Or it could be an effect added to items. I would like the effect but I would NOT put my points into this. But maybe others would, I just don't see it.

Sadly, I might not either, but more options = more diversity and replayability ;)

I don't know. I have been thinking about this and I am starting to like it. As I think about it all potions +25%.

So all health potions would heal you for 25% more.
Speed potion +25% rounds
Blind Rage +25% rounds.
A Resistance to Fatigue Potion +25% rounds.

I see where this could be helpful and would not be overpowered due to the fact that you have to obtain the potions and you would have to spend a skill point for it. No more than 2 Ranks though. I think that more than a 50% increase would overpower it.

I like it the way it is. The fact that potions become less effective counterbalances the fact that as your HP grows it gets harder and harder for an NPC to actually kill you.

Eventually, we should get monsters that can threaten the life of a level 100 character carrying BMPs.. Maybe then we'll need something stronger...
