Re: Permanent death
When I was a noob, I remember thinking that it was plenty hard enough to get to level 8. For about two months, I kept changing my mind and dumping builds and starting them again, only to delete them after a day. And I remember thinking that it was unreasonable to deduct a third of my exp points just for dying. For permanent death to appear would have killed me. It's hard enough to get to level 20 while still sticking to the same build for me. Basically, my sig says it all. Having permadeath would really destroy the game.
I can't imagine sticking to the same build for much more than a month, and it took alll of my willpower to stick with my crit. build up to lv40, before crits got nuked. I'm sure there are some more players out there who operate like I do, and having permadeath would make the game a lot harder for noobs.

Hey guys, I'm back.

Re: Permanent death
Ok I think this could work.
The only way that I can see this working is if:
1. You can fall unconscious many times. Basically after depleting the XP bar to nothing then Character Death. The only problem I see with this is that once you gain a level you could easily be killed.
2. Gear. Gear will need to be transferrable. There is nothing worse than grinding for hours to get that RoLS just to lose it to the death of that Character. If something were put in place where you could transfer over some items to another character. (Level limitations, Money to purchase the item back, XP amount needs to match the same amount of XP that you had when you first recieved the item, etc.)
IMO I think that it could add an additional challenge for higher level players, although I am almost positive this will never happen.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
Give a man a fire and he will be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
