Completely stuck on "A lost potion" quest

Post by BadRandy »

I've come back to the game after about 3 years off.... Back in the Day I got past this quest but not this time and I'm completely stuck....
Here is what I'm showing in my quest log for this quest...

I have found a formation of rocks on the Duleian road. It does not look like they were naturally placed, but rather they were meant to symbolize something

In the woods close to the rocky formation I encountered a creature blocking the way into the forest

I've gone back to Umar in the thieves guild to see if he'll tell me to go talk to Ogam to get the password... numerous times and he never tells me this so I can continue the quest....
I've gone and talked to Ogam and can't get him to tell me the password.

What am I missing here guys???? Do I have to complete other quests first? Have I missed another step in getting Umar to tell me to go talk to Ogam?

I'll go back to grinding till hopefully you guys can help me on my way....
Oh and by the way all the updated material is awesome.

I'm pretty sure the you need to complete the key of luther quest first.

What does the dialogue look like when talking to Umar?

Talk to Ogam a lot, enough for you to notice that he's not saying anything new.
Then look at your quest log. What is written there is enough for you to identify what password the creature asks for

Here is the conversation options with Umar...
- Do you have any tasks for me?
He replies, No jobs today my young friend. Maybe some other day.
- Hello
He replies, anything else I can help you with
- Nice to meet you. Good bye

My current unfinished quests are as follows.... just in case I need to finish one before being able to finish this one....
- Search for Andor
- lost treasures
- A lost potion
- a difference of opinion
- old friends
- Surprise
- Mine for the taking

Thank you all for trying to get me pointed in the right direction

Try this

A lost potion
I should find a potion maker called Lodar. Umar in the Fallhaven Thieves' Guild told me that I will need to know the right words to pass a guardian in order to reach Lodar's hideaway.
Umar told me I should go see someone called Ogam in Vilegard. Ogam can supply me with the right words to reach Lodar's hideaway.
I have visited Ogam in southwest Vilegard. He was talking in what seemed like riddles. I could barely make out some details when I asked about Lodar's hideaway. 'Halfway between the Shadow and the light. Rocky formations.' and the words 'Glow of the Shadow.' were among the things he said. I am not sure what they mean.
I have found a formation of rocks on the Duleian Road. It does not look like they were naturally placed, but rather that they are meant to symbolize something.
Could this be the 'rocky formation' that the old man Ogam mentioned? If that is the case, then this might be a clue as to where Andor went.
In the woods close to the rocky formation, I encountered a creature blocking the way into the forest.
By speaking the words that Ogam had mentioned, the creature moved out of the way, and almost seemed to welcome me further into the forest. ?
Best I remember from the quest

Could you try again
"anything else" and then talk about Andor?

Exactly where I was indirectly pointing him to.
