Altering stats for Rare /boss drops

The wolfpack den area, where the wolf pack leader is, you get a wolfpack leather body that is 2% bc and 1 resist PLUS -14 ac...really?, and it's supposedly a 'rare' or was it extraordinary i don't remember. well the item sucks when you compare it to the hardened leather shirt (5%bc, 1 resist)you can get way earlier than you could get to that leader.

Very true. Some legendary and exceptional items are quite useless, lol. :lol:

Some are worth their weight in gold like the Rapier of Lifesteal for example. In fact it saves you gold because you might not need to use potions again.

The Jinxed rings are Extraordinary but they are mostly junk (unless you are going for a heavy DR build)

No, I completely agree that this armour is a complete waste of space. If it was something more like BC +15% AC +5% DR+1 I could see it as an extraordinary. With those stats, you could even get rid of the DR and it'd be worthy. I think in all most of the boss drops are pretty useless. The only good one I've found so far is the Flagstone's Pride sword.
Looking at the stats of some of the other rare/extraordinary items, the only good ones are the Ring of Lesser Shadow, Elytharan redeemer and Rapier of Lifesteal. All of the other's are pretty disappointing and make (me at least) feel pretty disheartened that I went through the trouble of leveling and fighting to and acquire them, only to get something that I'm just gonna dump off on the nearest merchant because what I bought at the store is better.

I can understand that legendary/extraordinary items might need some detrimental effects in order to balance them for the rest of the game, but I think in specific the stats to the Wolf Pack Armour need to be addressed. I mean, come on, an armour that actually INCREASES your chances of taking damage in combat? What's the point in that?

To me, an armour like the WPA sounds like something that you would find on a barbarian type character. The hides of great beasts you've slain thrown around you as armour. Perhaps the armour should focus more on attacking rather than block? So rather than 15% BC, 5% AC, it should be 5% BC, 15% AC. Forget the DR, or maybe have that at -1 to provide some balance, I dunno, but in all, I think that this and the stats of many other item need to be readdressed.

+1 Sam2, well said. I think the rare items should be something worth fighting for. As it stands now there is nothing much to motivate me to go for them. A nice reward at the end of the quest would be cool.

A few quests do give you great items at the end:

For example: (contains spoilers)
You get the Flagstone's Pride at the end of the Flagstone quests (ancient secrets)

At the end of the Iqhan Cave there is a DotSP
I do agree that the drops from the bosses at the end of a lot of the non-quest related quests could use a little more power consittering what you have to get through to get the item. Only a small change would be needed to improve most of them.

Someone could write a quest where the hide armor is needed to camouflage the plAyer... like odysseus and th Cyclops ( who needs to be original).
